How can I edit my site in Webflow's designer mode when I only have read-only access?
If you have read-only access to a site in Webflow's designer mode, you have limited editing permissions. However, there are still a few things you can do to make changes to the site. Here are some options:
Duplicate the site: If you have read-only access to a site, you can duplicate it and create your own editable version. To do this, go to the project settings, click on the "Duplicating" tab, and then click on the "Duplicate Project" button. This will create a new project that you have full editing access to.
Use the Webflow Editor: The Webflow Editor is a separate interface that allows for limited editing of certain elements on a published site. If the site you have read-only access to is published, you can make changes to the content using the Editor. Simply add "/?edit" to the end of the URL in the browser's address bar to access the Editor. From there, you can make changes to text, images, and other editable content.
Request access from the site owner: If you need more in-depth editing capabilities, you can reach out to the owner of the site and ask them to grant you full access. The owner can add you as a team member with appropriate permissions, allowing you to make edits in the designer mode.
Work on a separate copy: If the site owner doesn't want to grant you full access or if you want to make changes without affecting the live site, you can create a separate copy of the site. You can then make your desired changes in the duplicated version and share it with the owner for review.
While read-only access limits your ability to directly edit the site, these options allow you to still make changes and collaborate effectively with the site owner or team members.
